The Shindai Vision

Shindai is growing & with all the healing bursting out of the space it gave me pause to reflect & be grateful for what is developing. The vision of Shindai has always been one of healing & wellness through cooperation & interaction with different high quality healers. I see healing & wellness as a process where each step leads to more awareness & integration. Transformation is more fully realized through interaction with different modalities & practitioners. Different reactions are catalyzed by different modalities of healing & each practitioner has a different way of approaching this change. This cooperation & group intention or Qi, is so powerful.    I am reminded of how powerful group Qi is from an experience I had years ago. I attended a conference where each day we were asked to put aside our limiting beliefs in a unique way. We accomplished three seemingly unbelievable tasks. We broke a wooden arrow with our neck, two people walked together & bent rebar steel with their necks, & we walked, barefoot across a fire bed that was 1000 degrees or more. All seems so crazy! And yet all three of these were accomplished without injury. How? Partly by putting aside the belief that it couldn’t be done & partly by accessing the collective Qi that was created by the group.    Shindai now has an amazing team of healers that can hold space for deep healing & transformation. We are able to offer healing retreats that are completely personalized to your needs. We all work seamlessly together, picking up where another practitioner left off to shift you to...

A Truly Grand Opening

A Truly Grand Opening   The excitement is building at Shindai Acupuncture! Our Grand Opening is just around the corner & I can’t wait to see you all there! It will be a time filled with events that are entertaining & promote good Qi in this new space! Have you heard of a Lion dance? You won’t want to miss this experience! It is an East Asian tradition where performers mimic a lion’s movements in a lion costume to bring good luck and fortune to the new space and to all who witness the dance. This may bring out your inner roar in celebration!  We are on Native American soil here in Sedona & as such, we will pay homage to the energy that is around us. Callie Hill & James Riverstone will be offering up a Native American prayer in the Andean tradition & song as a blessing to the new space & as a sign of respect to those that have been here before us. Aho! Increasing your physical, emotional, & spiritual health is the priority at Shindai. It is only with good health that an individual can enjoy & nourish: relationships, travel, creativity, wealth, career, wisdom, & family. Improving your vitality & well-being touches every aspect of your life!  As part of Shindai’s mission to further wellness in our lives, we are creating a beautiful Zen garden for all of us to bask in. Creating this sacred space allows us to connect, even for just a short time, to nature & ourselves. A meditation before or after your treatment will bring about deeper healing & a more balanced outlook. We have people already lined up...

FEBRUARY BEAUTY TIP ROSE

Beauty Tip of the Month (for the month of LOVE) Méi guī huā or Rose is the universal symbol of love & friendship. But in Chinese medicine, it is more than just the carrier of romance & love. It has many medicinal uses that have been known for centuries. Its mild nature makes it ideal for nourishing the liver, refreshing the stomach, promoting the circulation of Qi & blood, & unblocking stagnation. Its aromatic nature opens the heart (there are actual studies that show it has a protective effect against myocardial infarction). It helps to sooth the mood & ease fatigue. Méi guī huā also improves the...

YEAR OF THE EARTH DOG

Happy Year of the Dog! That’s right it is the Chinese New Year & we have just transitioned from the year of the Red Rooster to the year of the Yellow or Earth Dog. How does this Chinese New Year work? The Chinese calendar rotates in 60-year cycles based on 12 animal years and five element years — wood, fire, earth, metal and water. 2018 is the Year of the Yellow Earth Dog. We will officially celebrate the arrival of the Yellow Dog on February 16th!  (Find your Chinese Zodiac sign here https://www.chinahighlights.com/travelguide/chinese-zodiac/)  If you are a Dog person like me, you will agree with the Chinese who consider the Dog to be good luck. And anyone who cares for & loves dogs will get a little extra luck this year! (WOOF!) It seems only fitting that in celebration of this cycle change, Shindai Acupuncture is moving to West Sedona right next to the Golden Bone & Sunshine Animal Clinic.  An auspicious move to be sure… or in Sedona speak we call this “woo-woo”, right? The past 2 years have been fiery & sometimes the tension & unpredictability of these years has been overwhelming. So the Earth Dog is a welcome change bringing some calm relief. Earth is a grounding & supporting energy, & if you are one of my clients you know how I feel about supporting the Earth element! In Chinese Medicine, the Earth Element involves the Earth Organs of the Body – the Spleen, Stomach & Pancreas. This is generally considered to be a good year for health & wellness. Be on the watch out for digestive disorders this year- overeating, esophageal...

Veterans, Post Traumatic Stress, and Acupuncture

There are considered three treasures in Oriental Medicine, Jing, Qi, & Shen. Jing is your essence or the source of life, health, & longevity. Qi is your vital energy giving you the ability to move your body. Shen is your spirit & is the most subtle of the Three Treasures. Conscious beauty as we have been talking about has to do with nurturing all of these aspects to maintain health & wellness. Developing a healthy Shen is dependent on cultivating healthy Jing & Qi. The development of a balanced body allows the Shen to shine.  This month I am supporting the Earned Innocence Project, a fundraiser to empower our veterans & bring them home to themselves. PTS is a significant problem & issue for many that have been in the military or lived through a traumatic event. Trauma & shock have profound physiological effects on us.  Whether physical or emotional, trauma causes the circulation of Qi & blood to diminish. Trauma causes a shock to the heart & affects the circulation of blood to the body.  According to the RAND Corporation study titled The Invisible Wounds of War, approximately 300,000 of the 1.5 million deployed since 2001 to Iraq and Afghanistan, suffer from PTS or major depression. And about 320,000 may have experienced at least a mild concussion or brain injury in combat. PTS can cause symptoms of depression, anxiety, insomnia, migraines, as well as pain originating from psychosomatic disorders. More & more studies are showing that acupuncture helps to ameliorate or resolve symptoms associated with PTS. And unlike many conventional therapies that require patients to reconstruct the traumatic...
Shindai Acupuncture Goes Mobile

Shindai Acupuncture Goes Mobile

New Mobile Office Shindai Acupuncture has gone mobile! Why limit acupuncture to just one location? I decided instead of hunkering down in an office space that limited my mobility & access to clients, I would find a way to have an office that moved with me. I solved this geographical problem by investing in a mobile office! The 26 foot trailer is spacious, has all the amenities of a stationary office, is peaceful, & can go where I need to. Inspiration Besides the perks of getting to see & meet different people, mixing up my surroundings brings fresh inspiration & the ability to collaborate with colleagues in different areas. I have met so many lovely clients & people along the road that I might not have got to interact with before.  Where to find Shindai Acupuncture I am currently at the Mission Bay RV park (2727 De Anza Road, San Diego) once a month seeing Facial Renewal clients. (Please see website for upcoming dates www.shindaiacupuncture.com in the events section) The relaxing breezes from the bay, the inviting office atmosphere, & a treatment that unwinds the stresses & complications of your life are all waiting for you! And I always love giving treatments here in Sedona, Az overlooking the powerful, beautiful red rocks, at 135 Sunrise Ave. Call for an appointment or to learn more! 619-587-1779 Concierge Service The mobile clinic now allows for concierge acupuncture services as well! Are you having a special event that you need to look good for? Wedding, anniversary, special party? One of my specialties is Constitutional Facial Renewal. I have been specially trained by world...
